If things go in the direction they seem to be going, Obama is going to be giving a pretty nice xmas gift to millions of Americans. Of course in the process, he'll also pissing off quite a few Americans, but c'est la vie. It's only fair. The last president pleased some americans while pissing off quite a few as well.
But here's the fun part.
Back when the war in Iraq first started and many Americans opposed it, the other side told them that if they didn't like it, they could just leave. Well many of the ones who told the others to leave are the same people who hate this healthcare bill. So now those who are for the bill can tell those who keep bitching about it that they can just leave. ;)
That other side also accused those who opposed the war for being unpatriotic.
That can be turned around as well.
I mean denying ones fellow countrymen of proper healthcare, not very patriotic. ;)
This bill isn't perfect, it isn't even close. But it is positive step forward for many Americans.
And lets say hypothetically this bill causes people to taxed a bit more.
Why is it that so many Americans supported a war that was unjust and would cause taxes to rise, but be against a bill that can help millions of Amiercans but may cause taxes to rise?
So it's fine to raise taxes in order to murder people in another country, but wrong to raise taxes to save lives in our own?
Interesting.
I've also heard that liberals are pushing big government with this bill, and that may be true. But the big picture is that republicans want to give the corporations all of the power, while the dems seem to want to give it to the government. In my opinion, I'd rather the government have more power than the corporations. It is the corporations that are paying low wages, cheaping out on benefits, outsourcing jobs, poisoning our food, painting our kids toys with lead paint, and cutting corners in every possible way to make a big profit, while endangering the public.
Both parties have their faults, there's no perfect party. But one is without a doubt better for our well being than the other, while the other is strictly all about greed.
Needed to get that off my chest. :)
It's xmas time and that means xmas lights.. I like xmas lights.
No idea why... I just do.
The economy has kind of diminished the holiday spirit somewhat, but one has to remember the best part about holidays such as xmas, and that's spending them with family and friends. A lot seem to be stressed about buying gifts while being limited due to the economy, and that's silly. People need to just tell the gift giving part of xmas to go fuck itself and enjoy the time with their loved ones. That's all that really matters in the end.
At least imo.
Anywho... happy holidaze to anyone reading..
Time for lunch. :)
